JOIN US FOR AN A CAPPELLA WORKSHOP ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 21ST AT 3:30 in the CHS music rooms

This workshop is desgined to support students preparing for their upcoming A Cappella auditions and callbacks. You will sing in a mock callback, get feedback on your solos and ask any questions you may have about the program and the process.

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, AUGUST 24TH FROM 3:30-5:00 IN THE CHOIR ROOM

Please prepare a one minute cut of a contemporary song in the pop, rock, singer/songwriter, alternative, or R&B styles (please no musical theater or original songs). Your song should be sung a cappella but you may ask for a starting note. Your song should show off what YOU do best. Look for songs that show off the best parts of your range, tone quality, and personal style and DON’T FORGET TO PERFORM! You may also be asked to sing a few short scales to help us further evaluate your vocal range. You do not need to be at the audition the whole time and can leave after you have sung.

IF YOU RECEIVE A CALLBACK, THEY WILL BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 2ND AT 5:00 IN THE MUSIC ROOMs

After the 8/24 auditions, an email will be sent to you with the callback results and next steps Please note we may ask you to sing a cut from another contemporary song at the callback.

In preparation for a possible callback. if you would like to see how Unstrumental and Bare Rhythm learn their music, below is a file containing our learning tracks for “Feelin’ Good” originally by Nina Simone, as performed by Unstrumental. THIS WILL NOT BE YOUR CALLBACK SONG but will give you a chance to hear how the groups pick up their music and what kind of material you will be given to learn before your callback. We recommend listening with headphones while following along with the sheet music pdf. In one ear, you should hear your voice part (soprano, alto, tenor, etc.), in the other ear you should hear all the voice parts. When you familiarize yourself with your part, take your headphones out and try singing along with the “full demo” track.
